Cassandra Clare is an acclaimed fantasy author and dynamic speaker. She is the author of the #1 New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Publishers Weekly bestselling Shadowhunter Chronicles, as well as Sword Catcher, her most recent adult novel that was an instant New York Times bestseller and remained on the list for several weeks. Its sequel, The Ragpicker King, is hailed as one of the most-anticipated books of 2025 by Paste Magazine. Her books have more than fifty million copies in print worldwide and have been translated into more than thirty-five languages.

In 2013, City of Bones was adapted into a film, which was nominated for 11 awards, winning several including the Golden Screen Award, Best Visual Effects, Best Makeup, and more at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards. In addition to this series, Clare co-authored the bestselling Magisterium middle-grade series with her best friend, Holly Black.

Born to American parents in Teheran, Iran, Clare spent much of her childhood moving and travelling the world with her family. She found comfort in reading books, which is where her longtime interest in magic and fantasy stems from. After graduating from college, Clare lived in both Los Angeles and New York, working at various entertainment magazines and bookstores before starting her first novel. She now lives in Western, MA with her husband and four cats.
