Thinking in New Boxes: A New Approach to Creativity

Everyday conference rooms and virtual whiteboards across the globe are being filled with ideas and colorful notes—but to what effect? In this talk, based on his acclaimed book, Thinking in New Boxes, Alan Iny helps audiences challenge existing mental models and bring fresh thinking to daily challenges.

    Strategy in Times of Uncertainty

Leaders have always been tasked with navigating uncertainty, but in recent years the uncertainty in question seems bigger than ever—what has changed? As Alan Iny outlines in his riveting keynote, the landscape for potential impacts is becoming increasingly complex as environmental, geopolitical, and cyber risks intertwine with economic, competitive, and technological risks. Iny introduces his audiences to a broad set of tools to build a robust “Uncertainty Advantage”—an advantage that helps organizations prosper by being better prepared than the competition for whatever lies ahead.

Thinking More Expansively about the Future

Planning processes are often biased toward an expected future. Game-changing moves are forgone or delayed and the chance to build a competitive advantage not seized. With decades-long experience in corporate strategy and scenario-building, Alan Iny talks to audiences about ideating toward the future and developing resilience through preparedness. Using a broad range of tools, Iny leads companies through exercises and concepts in this highly interactive session.

  • Praise for Alan Iny

I am leaving the company now but I wanted to give you a quick call to tell you that the hour you spent with us 5 years ago was one of the most powerful and meaningful sessions that come to mind when I look back on my 10 years here. Thank you.

    Senior Executive

People were super inspired after your session (even if it was the tough afternoon one!) and many let me know in the subsequent days of our gathering how much they enjoyed it, found it really helpful and tangible for things I can apply every day in my work!

    Attendee

I wanted to share that the feedback from the team was very positive on Alan’s “Reimagination” session yesterday. It was a very engaging 90 minutes (especially impressive that he did the presentation virtually, from the road) and did set the stage for creative and limitless thinking. Thanks for making it part of the program—we appreciated his time and insights.

    Managing Director, U.S. Bank

Praise for Thinking in New Boxes

An imaginative, proactive, and creative approach to problem solving that prospects for new ideas rather than trying to predict the future.
